World Social Work Day 2017 in Belfast #WSWD17

NISCC is proud to have worked with Theresa Nixon (RQIA) at their celebration of social work today in Belfast. The event included a powerful range of presentations celebrating and challenging social work in a fast-changing environment

  • Bernie McNally (Safeguarding Board NI) talking about her experience of child protection, challenged social workers to 'Think the Unthinkable' in order to safeguard children and vulnerable adults
  • Tracey Reid (BHSCT) talked about their experience of Rethinking Older People's Services
  • Robyn from MACs gave insight into a young person's experience of the care system and how to make it better
  • Christine Smyth (Dept of Health) shared the next stages for the Social Work Strategy - focusing on 4 themes - Improvement, Leadership, Co-production & Outcomes.
  • NSPCC shared their video 'Listen to Me' - Young people's experiences of Human Trafficking
  • Theresa Nixon (RQIA) presented the benefits of Mental Health Perinatal Services in the Community
