Degree in Social Work Partnership Chair Retires

The Northern Ireland Degree in Social Work Partnership would like to acknowledge the retirement of our Chair, John Doherty.

John has been Chair of the Partnership for five years since he joined in September 2012 following his retirement from his post in WHSCT as Director of Children’s and Women’s Services.

He has shaped the Partnership through his leadership and respect for all partners to influence the development of Social Work education regionally in Northern Ireland. Through his valuable skills, knowledge and professional qualities, John has inspired the work of the Partnership, developed ongoing working relationships and provided encouragement and support for his staff and colleagues.

On behalf of the Partnership, John was presented with a memorable piece of art by Joyce Gray entitled ‘Making New Beginnings’ which he has proudly put in his study at home.

On presentation, John expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Partnership and commented that the most rewarding and valuable part of his job was the people he worked with.

We would like to wish John every success and best wishes in making his ‘new beginnings’.
