Commenting about the ambitious plan, Colum said: “Standards are the cornerstone of everything we do and will strengthen the professionalism of the registered workforce across Northern Ireland. In this, the first of five strategic themes, activity is focused on enabling registrants to recognise and understand the standards required of them.
“Other key themes include: Regulation of the Workforce, where we will deliver our statutory functions of workforce registration, regulation and social work education and involve stakeholders in reviewing and improving our performance.
“Developing the Social Work and Social Care Workforce and promoting a Systems Leadership Approach are also major areas of focus this year, where we will work with interest groups to create a culture of continuous learning and development and facilitate new thinking to reduce harms, minimise risks and improve quality.
“Success across our strategic themes is dependent on our final priority area, Communications and Engagement, and focuses on building effective and supportive relationships with service users, carers, registrants, employers and other stakeholders.”
