‘Three Steps’ seminar success

The Social Care Council has hosted a very successful Lunchtime Seminar entitled: ‘Three Steps to Positive Practice: A rights-based approach when considering and reviewing the use of restrictive interventions.’

Delivering the seminar were: Rosaline Kelly, Royal College of Nursing NI; Dr Heather Hanna, Consultant Psychiatrist; Adele Boyd, Independent Social Work Practitioner and BASW NI Committee Member.

“Three Steps to Positive Practice” is a process to guide professional practice and ensure staff remain up to date with the changes and developments in legislation and guidance regarding restrictive interventions and a rights-based approach in any health and social care context.

The process is endorsed by theRoyal College of Psychiatry; the Royal College of Nursing; the British Association of Social Work; and the College of Occupational Therapy.

For those that were unable to attend, we are exploring the possibility of rerunning the seminar next year so watch this space for further updates. You can also access the presentation here.
