NISCC Ambassador visits North West Regional College

NISCC Ambassador Stuart Plant talked to 20 students from the North West Regional College on the role of a social worker.

Stuart with the help of Michaela a student at UU Magee (final year) provided an overview of the role of social workers in Northern Ireland and an overview of social work in the voluntary sector. The focus was on the therapeutic relationship and the role of motivation to inspire resistant young people. The students fully engaged in Stuart’s fun and interactive presentation.

Organiser Stephanie McGuinness, Lecturer in H&SC, NWRC “overall it was excellent and students really enjoyed looking at the positive aspects of social work. I feel this is such a great tool to improve the social work image”.
