Social Care Council launch new and improved Learning Zone

19 October 2022

The Northern Ireland Social Care Council (Social Care Council) has launched its new improved Learning Zone, after updating the platform and its resources to provide a better user experience for social workers and social care workers across Northern Ireland.

The updated Learning Zone website hosts the latest information, resources and guidance to help social care and social care professionals support their continuous learning journey. As well as a library of innovative and current learning resources, the updated site contains all the professional guidance social workers and social care workers need to know in once place. It integrates seamlessly with the Social Care Council’s website and is work friendly on mobile and tablet devices – so users can access what they need any place, any time and learn at a pace that suits them best.

Learning Zone content includes a wide range of resources to support registrants including grief and bereavement, mental health in the workplace for managers, loneliness and isolation, resilience, promoting good nutrition, dysphasia and medication management. Users can also be signposted to key guidance and other support networks which can help embed best practice in social care and social work.

Information has been grouped under four headings social care, social work, learning resources and building digital capability, with sections designed to help users engage with the resources and guidance they need more easily. They will be regularly updated with new material and resources, with support for building a continuous learning culture within social care and social work professions.

Patricia Higgins, CEO for the Social Care Council, said:

The aim of the Learning Zone is to help all social workers; social care workers and their employers understand their roles and responsibilities in regard to continuous learning and development and how to embed their standards for their profession into their practice.

We hope that the new improved Learning Zone, with its streamlined navigation to support registrants learning journeys, will make continuous learning a more enjoyable experience.
