The 2024 Conference for Approved Social Workers (ASWs) in Northern Ireland is due to take place on Wednesday 13 November 2024, 9.30am – 4.00pm as an in-person event in the Dunadry Hotel and Gardens.
Join us for a day filled with knowledge updates and networking opportunities to support your professional development. Speakers will include Approved Social Work Leads and key representatives from the Department of Health. Aine Morrison, Chief Social Work Officer for Northern Ireland, will provide an overview to close this key event in the social work professional development calendar.
The one-day event is a valuable opportunity to participate in presentations and discussions on the experiences of Approved Social Workers, including recognising the impact on emotional health and well-being. There will be updates on developments in the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act including recommendations from the Coroner’s Report on Cawdery and approaches to best interest decision-making.
This event is free for all those involved in Approved Social Work practice, service management or education. Participation in the event can be included as part of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council’s post registration training and learning (PRTL) requirements. The Social Care Council and Queen’s University Belfast are supporting partners for this event.
The event is applicable to all ASWs, their line managers; ASW candidates in training and ASW professional supervisors.
To register for the conference contact your local ASW lead.
We anticipate high demand for places at this event, which are allocated on a first come, first served basis. A waiting list will be held for those who are not able to book a place.
