Funding for Social Care Qualifications in Northern Ireland

The Department of Health has provided funding to support social care workforce reform in Northern Ireland. 

This means registered social care workers with one month of experience in their current role can apply for funding to complete the Level 2 Certificate in Safe and Effective Practice

Managed by the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (the Social Care Council), the funding enables social care workers on their career journey on the Care in Practice Framework and will support their professional development. 

Funding applications are limited to a maximum of two employees each in independent sector organisations (private, community and voluntary). 

The deadline for applications to access this funding is 5pm, 10 January, 2025.

The Social Care Council intends for all employers to be informed of application outcomes by 17 January, 2025. 

There is no age restriction on applications and each social care organisation must source qualification provision from an appropriate training provider.Please note, applications for funding must be signed off by a CEO, Director or a Senior Manager/Manager within each organisation.

In the event that the number of applicants exceed capacity, a reserve list will be in place should further funding become available.

Organisations must complete and submit an online application form by 5pm on 10 January, 2025.
