Building a better way – Social Care Council launches new App

Social workers and social care practitioners who are registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (the Social Care Council) can now access online services by using a new App officially launched today.

After successfully testing and incorporating feedback, the Social Care Council has now started the public roll out of the new App. It is now available from Apple App and Google Play stores, with further updates and releases being added in the coming months.

The Social Care Council’s Interim Chief Executive Declan McAllister said being able to access online services, make a payment and upload ID documents quickly, securely and on the go, will be a game changer for those who need to engage with the regulator quickly.

This new App complements the way registrants and employers currently access online services, including when they need to pay an annual registration fee using ‘My Portal’ account.

“The release of this new App is part of the Social Care Council’s work to build better ways for registrants, employers, the public and stakeholders to engage with us. It adds to an increasing range of ways online services are made available to registrants and employers by providing a convenient tool them to check registration details, update contact details or pay a fee to maintain their registration.”

This is the first of many planned App updates to be released. The Social Care Council will refine App content by listening to user feedback, adding additional tools and services, such as notifications, and will synchronise further with the Social Care Council’s database.

Mr McAllister continued “These new developments are an important step in our plans to provide a more robust and accessible regulatory system that better protects the public. We have come a long way in developing services that support our registrants and will continue to do so.”

App users are able to log onto their ‘My Portal’ account on the App to view their registration information, make a payment, upload identity documentation in a simple and secure, view standards and policies, link to the Learning Zone, check out the latest news, podcasts and events and download resources and guides.

System alert – Public Facing Register

We are aware of a technical issue affecting a number of registrants who are unable to view their registration status on the Public Register Facing Register (the Register). Employers are also experiencing this when they are using the Register to look up the details of registrants. We are working to resolve this. Affected registrants should continue to work whilst their record on the Register is updated. If any further information is required by an individual registrant or employer, please email: registration@niscc.hscni.net.
