Health Minister Robbie Butler has announced the appointment of Lisa Morrison has a Non-Executive Lay Member of the Board of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (the Social Care Council).
Lisa brings extensive experience as a self-employed trainer, consultant and public speaker who draws on her lived and professional experience to promote trauma-informed, rights-based health and social care. Lisa holds an MSc in Co-production of Health and Social Care Research and believes it is relationships that heal and change lives.
Lisa worked as a campaign organiser with Participation and Practice of Rights, advocating for rights-based, trauma-informed mental health care. As an associate trainer with 4 Mental Health in Wales, she delivers suicide prevention education. Previously, as Lead Peer Trainer at the Southern Health and Social Care Trust’s Recovery College, Lisa supported local and regional initiatives, including embedding co-production within the Regional Towards Zero Suicide Programme.

Lisa brings a strong service user and carer voice along with a strong commitment to trauma informed practice. Her leadership, expertise and knowledge will support the Council Board in putting the rights of service users and carers at the heart of every board decision”.

The Non-Executive chair position attracts remuneration of £7,404 per annum with a time commitment of two days per month. The appointment is made in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland.
