Health Minister, Mike Nesbitt has announced the appointment of three Non-Executive Members to the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (the Social Care Council).
Bria Mongan has been appointed as the Non-Executive (Registrant) Member, Carol Diffin has been appointed as the Non-Executive (Stakeholder) Member and Denise Hunt has been appointed as the Non-Executive (Lay) Member. All three appointments commenced on 19 May 2025 and will end on a date not later than 18 May 2029.
Declan McAllister, Interim Chief Executive of the Social Care Council said:
“It’s fantastic that we are able to welcome these three new board members. It’s clear that each one will bring their unique experience and expertise as lay, stakeholder and registrant non-executive directors.
“I look forward to working with them to support and raise standards for the social work and social care work forces over the next few years as we continue to work together and make a difference. “

Northern Ireland Social Care Council Non-Executive Member positions require a time commitment of a minimum of two days per month and attract a remuneration of £7,404 per annum.
These appointments are made in accordance with the Code of Practice issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland.
