Presented by Lorraine Conlon, Department of Health and Jennifer Dixon Clegg, the workshop will share plans, progress and the structures to be put in place to support the development of an Equine Strategy for Northern Ireland.
Specifically it will update social workers on progress made by the Department of Health working in partnership with other central government departments, such as DAERA and Department of Education (amongst others); and the HSCTs, and other partners to explore the potential benefits of incorporating equines into the provision and practice of health professionals for the benefit of vulnerable children and adults.
Key areas covered in this seminar will include:
• A brief outline of the NI Equine Economic Analysis;
• Key areas for development of an overarching Equine Strategy;
• The Department of Health’s role in working with other organisations across the sectors to support research, explore and promote the benefits of equine therapy by health professionals for the benefit of vulnerable children and adults.
