Make a difference: Applications are now open for public appointment of three non-executive directors to Social Care Council Board.

25 November 2024

The Northern Ireland Social Care Council (the Social Care Council) is currently promoting the Department of Health’s recruitment of three non-executive director vacancies on its Board.

The three positions available are:

  • one registrant (registered social worker, social care manager or social care worker)
  • one stakeholder, and
  • one lay member (member of the public for example).

Each non-executive board member is expected to be actively involved in the strategic direction of the Social Care Council, by actively participating in quarterly meetings.

Declan McAllister, Interim Chief Executive, Social Care Council said:

“The successful applicants will play an important part in the strategic direction of  regulation for the social work and social care workforce in Northern Ireland.

“The views of both registrants, stakeholders and the community are crucial for the Social Care Council so that we make informed decisions, whilst ensuring an independent perspective as part of our statutory duty to protect the public.

“This is an exceptional opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of people in Northern Ireland.”

Closing date for applications is 12 noon, Tuesday, 10 December 2024.
