Anyone can feel lonely at any time but as we go through the winter, cold weather, ice and snow can lead to people not being able to get out to make the important social connections that help to prevent loneliness.
Visit our Loneliness and Staying Connected to explore more about loneliness and how you can help reduce and raise awareness of it’s impact. This resource has been developed by the Social Care Council in partnership with a range of employers and voluntary organisations and funded by the DoH NI to support you to know and understand what loneliness is and how to respond to people at risk of loneliness and look after your own wellbeing
It’s also the time of year when coughs, colds and viruses are on the rise which can impact on the people you are supporting as infections spread and make people become unwell.
Supporting Good Infection Prevention and Control has been developed to support social care workers recognise what an infectious agent is and the control precautions around it for all aspects of your work. This resource was developed by the Social Care Council in partnership with the Department of Health, Public Health Agency (PHA) and the Regulation Quality and Improvement Authority (RQIA) to support you to remember to follow your infection prevention and control guidance and procedures including good hand hygiene and use of PPE.
