Specialist England Social Work Qualifying Programme

Content to be developed for this section

The NI Social Care Council Registration Rules allow those who have successfully completed a course approved by the other UK regulators to register with as a social workers with the Council. However, specialist Social Work programmes in England which include Frontline, Step Up and Think Ahead are an exception to this rule. The Social Care Council has endorsed a recommendation that applicants who have graduated from these programmes can be registered with restrictions on their practice to their initial specialist area of training for a limited period of time.

The content of the qualification is reviewed by a panel of Social Care Council Professional Advisers, who are qualified social workers. A compensation measure, if required and as directed by the Council, should be undertaken and completed within a specified period of time, which will fall within the first three years on the Council’s register.
