The 2023 online Conference for Approved Social Workers (ASWs) in Northern Ireland is due to take place on Wednesday 8 November 2023, 9.30am – 3.45pm.
The conference will include international perspectives, with input from speakers sharing experience and research from Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, England and Germany.
It is an opportunity to hear about findings on service users’ experience on being assessed under the Mental Health Act, up to date developments in the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act, Advocacy, Best Interest decision making in learning disability and advance care planning in mental health.
The conference will also include a focus on supporting ASWs and the benefits of mindfulness and psychoeducation to promote self-care.
The event will be opened by Peter May, Permanent Secretary in the Department of Health and Northern Ireland’s Chief Social Worker, Aine Morrison will also be present to sum up the event.
The event is applicable to all ASWs; their line managers; ASW candidates in training and ASW Professional supervisors.
