Good collection and use of data lead to better regulation of the workforce, both for individual professionals and the community.
As the regulator of the social work and social care workforce in Northern Ireland, the Social Care Council has a legislative responsibility to collect data the workforce and publish information about every registered social worker, social work student and social care practitioner on a single register – the Public Facing Register.
We report on and analysis about the data we hold on the social care and social work workforce. This important to ensure accountability and transparency, and supports continuous improvements to how we perform.
This can be in the form of regular data reports and summaries on a wide range of topics, including quarterly reports breaking down the makeup of the registered workforce and reports about the achievements of the workforce around professional learning and development.
This data is also used to illustrate demographics, apparent trends and behaviour insights across the sectors and establish the factors that affect why people are those moving on and off the register as social workers and social care practitioners.
These data are made available on this website so they can be used by the community, policymakers, researchers and service providers. We hope this transparency will help to create a greater understanding of diversity of the workforce in the social work and social care sectors moving forward.
