The Children’s Disability Service within the SHSCT made an amazing
achievement at the prestigious HSJ Value Awards in Manchester 2nd
September 2021. These awards continue to be the most esteemed
accolade of healthcare service excellence in the UK sharing best
practice, improving outcomes and innovating drivers of better service.
The service received a “Highly Commended” recognition for their work
during the Covid crisis when they managed to maintain services and
innovate at the same time in a time of uncertainty and risk. This is the
first time that the highly commended element has been introduced due
to the high standard of entries received from the leading health
organisations from around the UK.
The service was successful within the Specialist Service Redesign Initiative for their application titled “Delivering person-centred support services for children with a disability and their families in times of risk, change and uncertainty.” This was the only service from Northern Ireland to be formally recognised as a winner/commendation within the award so represents the quality and depth of the work carried out that ultimately benefited children and their families.
