Industrial Action

10 November 2019

We are aware that industrial action short of a strike and strike action is planned.

Like many other professions and workforce groups, social workers and social care practitioners have the right to take part in lawful industrial action, including strike action.

For social work and social care registrants taking part in such action, the standards and behaviours set out in the Standards of Conduct and Practice continue to apply.

For social workers and social care practitioners not taking part in industrial action, we recognise that they may need to use their professional judgment, in accordance with the Standards of Conduct and Practice, to assess risk and find the best way to provide care for people who use services. In these circumstances registrants should seek the support of their employer.
