Our research

The health and social care landscape is subject to continual change. That can include changes in culture, service delivery, public attitudes, and societal and demographic factors, all affecting us a regulator and social work and social care as regulated professions.

As the regulator for the social work and social care professions in Northern Ireland, we care about how our work can support better outcomes for the people who use these services and provide them.

We recognise that access to high quality evidence and research analysis is vital to inform strategic and policy directions to improve our regulatory practice.

As we set the standards for professionals to deliver these services, we need those professionals to be assured that those standards are informed by evidence.

It is our aim that our work is informed by evidence and that this evidence is constantly examined and updated.

System alert – Public Facing Register

We are aware of a technical issue affecting a number of registrants who are unable to view their registration status on the Public Register Facing Register (the Register). Employers are also experiencing this when they are using the Register to look up the details of registrants. We are working to resolve this. Affected registrants should continue to work whilst their record on the Register is updated. If any further information is required by an individual registrant or employer, please email: registration@niscc.hscni.net.
