About this seminar
Meaningful connection is an essential element of our work. It leads to better outcomes, more trust and a healthier work environment. This however does not just include Professional/family relationships. It also involves family members who have unresolved differences and which prevent or hinder possible positive outcomes for themselves or the wider family.
Restorative Mediation is a process used throughout the UK by Social Workers and care staff to help bring family members together safely to express their differences. In doing so they are afforded a meaningful conversation that will allow them to express their version of the truth, be heard and have their feelings recognised. This is true of both parties. It is a quick process that can be used in an emergency or as a planned intervention.
This lunchtime lecture will introduce participants to the practice model and the theory underpinning the approach. It will also include interventions that allow us to work more collaboratively with our client group such as: de-escalating language, curiosity, affirmative statements and impartiality.
The seminar will be delivered using case study examples and participants will be given an opportunity to process the information in a breakout session and ask questions for clarification.
