Adverse Childhood Experiences Lunchtime Seminar

Due to its success earlier this year, the Northern Ireland Social Care Council will host once again the Lunchtime Seminar: Building an ‘ACE’ Aware and Trauma Sensitive Workforce, presented by Social Care Implementation Manager from The Safeguarding Board Northern Ireland, Sheina Rigg.

This seminar will look at what ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) are and what their potential impact is upon behaviour and health in children and adults. Mitigating factors and preventative measures will be explored and we will discuss what trauma informed practice might look like in our organisation.

The key areas covered in this seminar will be:

  •  The potential impact of ACEs(Adverse Childhood Experiences) and trauma on child development, behaviour and long term outcomes for adults.
  •  Being trauma informed and using a trauma ‘lens’ in our work.
  •  Resilience factors.
  • Considering support, self-care and resilience as workers

The seminar will take place on Friday, 4 October 2019, from 12 noon to 2 pm at 7th Floor Millennium House, 25 Great Victoria Street, Belfast.
