World Social Work Day

World Social Work Day

On Tuesday 19th March, the Northern Ireland Social Care Council will join with social workers across the world to celebrate World Social Work Day 2019. The day allows social workers to reflect on the important work that social workers do every day and the achievements of the profession in the lives of the wider community.

 Social Care Council’s Chief Executive, Patricia Higgins comments;

‘World Social Work Day is a fantastic opportunity for social workers to come together and celebrate the hard work we do every day. Here at the Northern Ireland Social Care Council we are delighted to endorse the day and commend our entire workforce for the work they do. The Social Care Council would like to thank all the Social Workers in Northern Ireland for their diligence and compassion they bring daily.’

To help celebrate the day, we would like to invite social workers to share their stories with us and tell us why they choose Social Work as a career. If you would like to participate in our celebration, send us a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram post with the hashtag #WSWD19  and #Yes2SocialWork

We are also supporting the event hosted by the British Association of Social Workers Northern Ireland and the Irish Association of Social Workers; Social Work Professionalism - Promoting Values Empowering Identity. The workshops, being held at the Ballymascallon Hotel, Dundalk; is an opportunity for social workers across the island of Ireland to meet and share their views on the importance of encouraging a professional social work identity.
